Reconciliation

Senator Bryd (D), wrote the reconciliation bill which is being used to pass the Senate version of the Health Care Bill.  Here is what he has to say about this:

Deem and Pass

Rather than vote on such a controversial bill, Pelosi may use a method called, “Deem and Pass” to enable the House to approve the Health Care Bill WITHOUT ACTUALLY VOTING ON IT.

Nothing will infuriate Americans more than using these fraudulent tactics to force draconian legislation on the country.  If they succeed, there may be a new TAX REVOLT.

The Freedom of Choice in Health Care Act protects the rights of patients to pay directly for medical services, and it prohibits penalties levied on patients for declining participation in a particular health plan.

It has already been filed or prefiled in 33 states—Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

Lawmakers in an additional four states—Montana, North Carolina, Rhode Island, and Utah—have publicly announced their intentions to file the legislation. A citizen-led initiative has also been announced in Colorado.
